President Uhuru Kenyatta extended congratulations to KCB's women's volleyball team following their historic victory at the African club championship in Kelibia, Tunisia.

The Kenyan squad defeated Egypt's Al Ahly 3-1 in the final, marking their first continental title since 2006 and ending a 16-year championship drought. The victory came after a 2-0 lead in the first two sets (25-18, 25-22), followed by a third-set loss (11-25) and a narrow fourth-set win (28-26).

This achievement makes KCB the first Kenyan club to claim the trophy since Kenya Prisons in 2013. The team's triumph also served as redemption after their 2009 final loss to Al Ahly in Nairobi.

Key players included Veronica Adhiambo, Mercy Moim, and Sharon Chepchumba, who were recognized for their contributions. Chepchumba received the Most Valuable Player award, while Edith Wisa was named Best Blocker and Mercy Moim as Best Attacker.

In related results, Kenya Pipeline secured bronze after a five-set victory over Tunisia's Carthage. The team's left attacker, Veronica Adhiambo, also earned Best Attacker honors.

Meanwhile, the Kenya Ports Authority men's volleyball team leads the national league after the fifth leg at Nyayo Stadium, Nairobi.
