KEMSA CEO Terry Ramadhani has announced comprehensive reforms aimed at transforming the authority into a streamlined health products and technologies supply chain provider, following discussions with key medical stakeholders.

The reforms focus on operational efficiency, customer experience, and organizational restructuring to better meet stakeholder needs, according to Ramadhani, who emphasized collaboration with pharmaceutical, medical, and nursing associations.

A delegation from the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK), Kenya Medical Association (KMA), Kenya Dentists Association, and National Nurses Association of Kenya met with Ramadhani to discuss the authority's restructuring plans. The group included PSK Chairperson Dr Louis Machogu, PSK CEO Dr Daniella Munene, KMA President Dr Were Onyino, and others.

Ramadhani highlighted KEMSA's progress in reducing order processing time from 46 days in February 2021 to 14 days by April 2022, citing improved service delivery as a key reform milestone.

The authority is also implementing a credit management strategy to recover over Kshs 2.7 billion in outstanding payments from county governments, with a monthly collection target of Kshs 500 million to enhance operational capacity.

PSK Chairperson Dr Daniella Munene affirmed stakeholders' commitment to supporting KEMSA's reforms, stating that healthcare professionals will uphold ethical standards to ensure organizational effectiveness and public health outcomes.
