KCB Bank has been recognized as the ‘Best Bank in Sustainable Finance in Kenya 2022’ for its commitment to environmental stewardship and community development through targeted financial strategies.

The accolade, awarded by Global Finance, highlights institutions advancing sustainable practices to address climate change impacts and foster long-term economic resilience. The recognition aligns with global goals to cut human-caused carbon emissions by 45% from 2010 levels by 2030, aiming for net-zero emissions by 2050.

KCB Group CEO Paul Russo emphasized the institution’s dual focus on profitability and societal impact, stating, "Our sustainability efforts prioritize customer and community needs, driving innovation to create efficient, future-ready industries."

The bank plans to allocate 25% of its loan portfolio to green investments by 2025 as part of its net-zero strategy. This follows 2021 awards that acknowledged KCB’s leadership in sustainable banking, including honors from International Business Magazine and Brand Finance.

Global Finance Publisher Joseph Giarraputo noted, "Pandemic-driven challenges and energy-sector shifts have underscored climate risks, while technological advancements offer new pathways to sustainable development."
