On Thursday, Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku granted the prosecution's request for an extension, citing the need to compile and supply witness statements to the defense.

Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda requested the court to allow the prosecution more time to supply witness statements and other relevant documents, stating that the documents sought are in large volumes.

Defense lawyers, Kioko Kilukumi and Cecil Miller, representing Kariuki, expressed concerns that the prosecution had supplied witness statements and exhibits very late, on September 4, and requested that the prosecution supply all the witness statements and other documents by September 20.

Magistrate Mutuku ruled that the prosecution has until September 20 to give the documents, with the parties to appear in court on September 26 for mention.
