Published on September 5, 2019, Harambee Stars will face Uganda in a friendly tie on September 8, 2019, at the Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani.

Francis Kimanzi, the team's new head coach, has named Michael Olunga as the team's captain in the absence of injured Victor Wanyama.

According to Kimanzi, Olunga was chosen for his experience, saying, "If you don't have your regular captain, then you have to look around and pick among the most experienced players and [Olunga] stands out."

Goal quoted Kimanzi as adding, "Olunga will lead the side and I know with the experience he has, he will do a good job."

Michael Olunga will be assisted by Gor Mahia defender Joash Onyango as vice-captain.

However, Kimanzi is facing a challenge with several key players set to miss the match due to injuries, including Johanna Omollo, Joseph Okumu, Ismael Gonzalez, and Zambian-based striker Jesse Were.
