On September 5, 2019, Nairobi MCA Anne Thumbi's long-standing claim about her son's paternity was confirmed through DNA tests.

The results revealed that her five-year-old son was indeed sired by the late Kibra MP Ken Okoth, who passed away a few months prior.

Thumbi had moved to court to have Okoth's family recognise her son as his and involve him in burial arrangements.

She had attached a photo showing the late legislator's mother Angelina with her grandson during one of their meetings, as well as a photo of Okoth carrying his young son on his shoulders smiling broadly.

Additionally, she had attached a birth certificate of her son that shows he bears the surname of Okoth.
