Prosecutors in the Humphrey Kariuki tax evasion case are seeking additional time to provide crucial evidence to the defense team.
According to Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Vincent Monda, the documents required are extensive, including 10 boxes of invoices.
While the prosecution has already supplied some witness statements to the defense team, they claim there are more pending.
Defense lawyers Kioko Kilukumi and Cecil Miler confirmed that they had received 27 witness statements and 23 exhibits on Wednesday.
However, they urged the court to direct the prosecution to supply all other documents by September 20, instead of the initially requested September 26.
Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku ruled that the prosecution comply with the request and the two files be mentioned on September 26.
She also directed the prosecution to ensure that all documents are served to the defense team before September 20 and have the inventory duly signed by the defense team on or before September 26.
