The Jubilee Party has submitted Sabina Chege and Peter Kenneth to the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition's running mate selection panel, marking the first official nominations for Raila Odinga's vice presidential candidate.
National Election Board Chairperson Stephen Wandeto confirmed the party's recommendation, stating the names were forwarded for consideration by the coalition's deputy president selection committee. The move comes as over 23 parties in the alliance race to submit their candidates ahead of the May 16 deadline.
KANU chairman Gideon Moi later endorsed Kalonzo Musyoka as Odinga's running mate, citing his experience and suitability for the role. The coalition's selection process follows an extended timeline after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission adjusted the original April 28 deadline through consultations with political stakeholders.
