Alfred Mutua, former Machakos Governor, has accused the International Criminal Court (ICC) of political bias in the Ocampo 6 case, which targeted key figures linked to the 2007 post-election violence. The ICC indictment named six individuals, including President Uhuru Kenyatta, Deputy President William Ruto, and former Attorney General Francis Muthaura, alleging their roles in the 2007-2008 violence that left over 1,300 dead.

Mutua, who served as a government official under former President Mwai Kibaki, claimed the list of accused was politically motivated. "We knew the Ocampo 6 list before it was formally announced. It was designed to target other individuals," he stated, noting his role as a witness for Kenyatta and Muthaura.

Kibaki, who died in 2016 at age 90, was a central figure in the 2007 election disputes. Mutua recalled his leadership style, saying, "Mzee Kibaki loved his wife Lucy deeply. When rumors spread he had another wife, he delivered a speech to confirm he had only one." He also described Kibaki's financial support for political campaigns, stating, "He allocated millions for campaigns, trusting my judgment on how to spend it."

The 2007 election violence followed disputed results between Kibaki and ODM leader Raila Odinga, with the Electoral Commission of Kenya (ECK) later acknowledging irregularities in the process.
