Microsoft has rebranded its Android integration tool from "Your Phone" to "Phone Link," launching a redesigned interface optimized for Windows 11 on April 1. The update emphasizes improved notification visibility and streamlined cross-device functionality, with design elements mirroring Windows 11's visual language.
The rebranding follows the app's 2021 introduction as a basic phone-PC connectivity solution. Microsoft cited evolving user expectations and the 2021 development of Android apps for Windows 11 as key drivers for the overhaul. The new interface features a prominently displayed notification panel, a left-side navigation bar for Messages, Photos, and Calls, and a color scheme aligned with Windows 11's design principles.
The Android companion app has also been renamed "Link to Windows," sharing the same icon to ensure user clarity. While initial support focuses on Samsung Galaxy and Surface devices, Microsoft announced expanded compatibility through a 2021 partnership with Honor, enhancing integration with Honor Magic V and Magic 4 series phones.
The Phone Link update is now available, with Windows 11 users able to enable it via QR code during setup. However, functionality remains limited to supported devices, and alternative solutions like Google Messages remain available for basic SMS access.
