On Monday, 13 locally-based players joined the Harambee Stars squad for training at the Kasarani Stadium, marking the beginning of their preparations for the upcoming friendly match against Uganda Cranes.

However, the team will be without the services of captain Victor Wanyama, midfielder Johanna Omollo, and defender Joseph Okumu. Wanyama is dealing with transfer complications at Tottenham Hotspur, while Omollo is injured, and Okumu is still settling at his new club IF Elfsborg in Sweden.

To compensate for Wanyama's absence, Lawrence Wanyama, a midfielder from Gor Mahia, has been named in the squad. Additionally, Ulinzi Stars Forward Enosh Ochieng and Bandari's Bernard Otieno have been recalled.

According to Harambee Stars Head Coach Francis Kimanzi, the team is expecting a tough test against their Ugandan counterparts in the friendly match scheduled for Sunday, 8th September, at the Kasarani Stadium.

The match will serve as an opportunity for the team to gauge their preparedness ahead of their 2021 AFCON qualifying matches against Egypt and Togo.
