Alcoholism is a serious addiction that can have devastating effects on one's life and career. In Kenya, several celebrities have come forward to share their struggles with alcoholism, which have led to a decline in their careers.
One such celebrity is Wilbroda, a Kenyan actress who opened up about her battle with alcoholism this year. She revealed that alcohol was taking a toll on her and that she had to stop drinking to save her life.
"FIRST AND FOREMOST, I WOULD LIKE TO SAY THE REASON I STOPPED DRINKING THEN IS BECAUSE THE DRINKING WAS TAKING A TOLL ON ME," Wilbroda said in an interview.
Another celebrity who has spoken out about his struggles with alcoholism is Jimwat, a musician who was involved in a grisly accident along Thika Road. He has since reformed and is back in the music scene.
Tom Mboya, a celebrated media personality, has also had his fair share of battles with alcoholism. He revealed that he only stopped drinking after he fell ill with pancreatitis.
"I RAN INTO TROUBLE AT SOME POINT IN MY LIFE, I HAD A GREAT JOB, A GOOD SALARY SO I COULD FUND MY DRINKING HABIT. I STARTED DRINKING AND AT SOME POINT IT BECAME TOO MUCH FOR MY BODY TO HANDLE. I ENDED UP IN HOSPITAL WITH PANCREATITIS," Mboya said.
Other celebrities who have spoken out about their struggles with alcoholism include DNA, who attributed his drinking to peer pressure and bad friends, and Allan Muliro, who lost his job as a sports presenter due to his addiction.
These celebrities are just a few examples of those who have been affected by alcoholism. It is a serious issue that requires attention and support.
