Published on September 4, 2019, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have launched an investigation into allegations of forgery among judicial officers in Eldoret.

According to Acting Uasin Gishu County DCI Chief Linah Kabaila, the detectives have recorded statements from several judicial officers and are targeting some lawyers in private practice who allegedly work in cahoots with the judicial staff.

The investigation centers around the use of forged documents, including land title deeds, medical letters, and car log books, to release suspects on bail.

Speaking in Eldoret, Kabaila noted that it was not a coincidence that several senior and support staff took annual leave when they were required to record statements on the forgery claims.

After completing the probe, the DCI team will prepare a report and forward it to Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji for action.
