Reuben Ndolo Returns to Kenya Professional Boxing Commission as Chairman

On September 3, 2019, Reuben Ndolo made a triumphant return to the Kenya Professional Boxing Commission (KPBC) as their new chairman, elected unopposed in an exercise presided over by Capacity Building Agency Consulting.

Ndolo, a former Makadara law maker, previously led the federation between 1998 and 2001. He has also served as the president of the Commonwealth Boxing Council.

During the election, Ahmed Yassin emerged victorious in the vice-chairman position, garnering 47 votes against Charles Juma's two votes.

Other key positions filled during the election include Hillay Alila's successor, Frankline Imbezi, retaining the secretary General position, while Abdalla kent received no votes. Julius Odhiambo secured 40 votes to win the assistant secretary general position against Leonard Wanga's 9 votes.

Purity Gacheri was elected the federation's treasurer unopposed, and Fredrick Simatwa secured 31 votes to floor Lucas Omondi in the vice treasurer position. Francis Olando was elected as the Organizing secretary, and Martin Nderia was elected unopposed as the assistant organizing secretary.

Ndolo has promised to put in place measures to improve the sport, stating, 'Immediately we start working with my new team, you will see the whole boxing coming to Kenya. I know the pain of being a boxer that’s why I must make sure boxers and promoters’ works together in the coming days and ensure good working relationships between the stakeholders.'

Outgoing chairman Hillay Alila attributed infighting among stakeholders as the main hindrance to the previous office's work, but noted that they made progress in administration structures that will benefit the incoming office.
