September 3, 2019 - Ulinzi Stars head coach Benjamin Nyangweso has set ambitious targets for his team in the Kenyan Premier League this season. The team aims to finish among the top five, a significant improvement from their 10th place finish last season.
Ulinzi Stars started their campaign on a high note with a 2-0 win over newly promoted Kisumu All Stars on Saturday. The team's lead striker Enosh Ochieng' was instrumental in the win, netting a double to lift them over All Stars.
Coach Nyangweso attributed the team's victory to maturity, saying, 'The team started slow in the first half but showed drastic improvement in the second half. Maturity was key to our victory because even when we were under pressure, we never panicked.'
The 2010 league champions believe the current squad has more maturity to push higher up the table. Nyangweso added, 'This season we want to try and finish in the top five, last season we finished 10th, our target is to win the league but if push comes to shove, a top 5 finish will do for us.'
Ulinzi Stars will next face Sofapaka on September 14 after the international break.
