On Tuesday, Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng'eno was arrested for leading a protest over the highly contentious Mau phase two evictions.
According to reports, Ng'eno was taken into police custody to prevent him from accessing the affected families in the Mau saga.
Ng'eno was accompanied by Chepalungu Member of Parliament Gideon Koskei and several Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) when he was arrested.
The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) had deployed rangers to execute the eviction, and the encroachers had started moving out as early as Monday to avoid confrontation.
Rift Valley Regional Coordinator George Natembeya had issued an order last week commanding the Mau settlers to vacate the water catchment tower.
