MP Moses Kuria Backs ODM Kibra Seat Hopeful ¶
Published on September 3, 2019
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has thrown his weight behind Benson Musungu, an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate, to replace the late Kibra MP, Ken Okoth, in the upcoming by-election.
MP Kuria, who is a member of the Jubilee Party, made the announcement on his Facebook page, citing the need for a Kibra-born leader to steer the constituency's development agenda.
"The person I vouch for to take forward from where Ken left is another Born in Kibra, Benson Musungu," MP Kuria said.
MP Kuria's decision to back an ODM candidate is interesting, given that the Jubilee Party has also fronted a candidate, former Harambee Star player MacDonald Mariga, for the seat.
Other political outfits that have named their candidates include Musalia Mudavadi's Amani National Congress (ANC) and Moses Wetang'ula's FORD Kenya.
The ANC party has endorsed former Raila Odinga's aide Eliud Owalo, while FORD Kenya has unveiled Khamisi Butichi as its candidate.
ODM is yet to name its flag bearer and is expected to hold nominations on Saturday, September 7.
