Former Kenyan Soccer Star Nominated for Parliamentary Seat ¶
On November 1, 2019, McDonald Mariga, a former Kenyan soccer star, was nominated by the Jubilee Party to run for the Kibra parliamentary seat in Nairobi.
Mariga, a former Harambee Stars player, made history in 2010 by becoming the first Kenyan to play in the UEFA Champions League while representing Inter Milan in Italy.
He has also played for Parma in Italy, as well as Real Sociedad and Real Oviedo in Spain.
Mariga made his debut for Harambee Stars in 2003 and went on to play 40 matches, scoring 5 goals.
