On September 3, 2019, Rift Valley MPs made a bold call to action, urging President Uhuru Kenyatta to donate his family's land to evictees from the Mau Forest.
The MPs, led by Soi MP Caleb Kositany, argued that the Kenyatta family has more than enough land to resettle the victims of the evictions.
According to the MPs, the Kenyatta family is among the country's largest landowners, with thousands of acres of land spread across the country, including in Nairobi, Naivasha, Nakuru, Thika, Mwiki, and Rumuruti, as well as at the Coast.
MP Kositany emphasized the need for President Kenyatta to lead by example and offer an alternative settlement to the evictees, saying, 'Let the President donate some land to the Mau evictees. We saw his family donate some land in Taita Taveta. We will fight for our people until justice is seen to be done.'
The MPs warned that the manner in which the Mau evictions are being conducted is the last straw that will break the camel's back and mark the death of Jubilee.
