On August 21, 2019, police officers led by 34-year-old Geoffrey Kipkurui discovered the body of his wife, Daisy Chebet, in Bargeret Forest, where he had allegedly buried her after murdering her.
According to court documents, Kipkurui attacked Chebet at their home in Nyota village, leaving her with fatal injuries. She later succumbed to her wounds.
Police officers from Molo exhumed Chebet's body on August 21, 2019, and Kipkurui is now set to take a plea on September 18, 2019, after his mental assessment.
Nakuru Deputy Registrar Nancy Makau directed that Kipkurui undergo a mental assessment to determine his fitness to stand trial and be remanded at Nakuru prisons.
Prosecutor Amos Chigiti confirmed that police had completed their investigations and would prefer murder charges against Kipkurui.
