Published on September 2, 2019, a tragic incident occurred at Hell's Gate National Park in Naivasha, where seven people lost their lives due to flash floods.

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) confirmed the deaths of six Kenyans and one Indian national, bringing an end to a near 24-hour search and rescue mission.

According to KWS, the bodies of the victims were recovered over a period of 24 hours, with one body found on Sunday evening, three overnight, and three more on Monday morning.

The search and rescue operation was called off in the afternoon after all the missing tourists and their guide were accounted for.

The KWS attributed the tragedy to the ongoing rains in the area and subsequently closed the gorge indefinitely.

However, other parts of the popular park remain open to the public.
