The Kenyan Ladies golf team is more than ready to take on the visiting teams from Zimbabwe and Zambia in the 50th edition of the biennial Gilberson and Page Trophy golf tournament.

Team captain Wanjiru Karume expressed confidence in her team, saying they had a strong lineup and were well-prepared for the tournament.

According to Karume, the team had a practice round on Monday, September 2, 2019, at Karen Country Club's par 72 course, under the supervision of national junior coach John van Liefland.

‘I must say this is the strongest team we have fielded in international tournaments in recent years and I am confident we will do well,' Karume said.

The team consists of experienced players, including Joyce Wanjiru, Agnes Nyakio, Mercy Nyanchama, Esther Chumo, and Florence Maina, with Margaret Njoki of Golf Park being the newest addition.

The defending champions Zimbabwe, who arrived along with Zambia on Sunday, also had a test of the Karen Country Club, which has been prepared well for the event.

The tournament will feature a total of 18 players from the three countries, with the second test match and the Ladies Kenya Open to be staged at Sigona Golf Club on Friday and Saturday.
