On September 2, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded in Awendo, Migori county, during a cultural wedding between businessman Bonke Komwayi and his wife, Felicity.
Risper Adinda, a Nairobi woman politician and close associate of Ida Odinga, was part of the entourage that accompanied Bonke to the wedding. However, her intentions were far from pure.
According to sources, Adinda was not happy about Bonke's marriage to Felicity and had been drinking expensive whisky during the journey to Awendo. As the guests were busy enjoying the food and music, Adinda started demanding the attention of Bonke, shocking her team and family members.
Guests, including Kenya Union of Savings and Credits Cooperatives CEO George Ototo and Pamela Olet, were left speechless as Adinda restricted Bonke's engagements with Felicity and insisted on serving him food, a duty meant for the wedded wife.
The drama climaxed later in the evening when Adinda took advantage of the guests' distraction and slithered back to the mother-in-law's house, where she furiously urinated before majestically marching out smiling.
Reliable sources said Adinda urinated in all rooms in the house in quick succession, and it was only when the music stopped and screams rent the air that the police officers hired for security learned of her action.
The matter has been tabled before the elders, and according to the Luo culture, the marriage may be cancelled despite the dowry payment of 15 heads of cattle, 12 goats, and hundreds of thousands of shillings.
