On July 20, 2019, Tob Cohen, a 70-year-old Dutch national, was dropped off at a club in Westlands after leaving his house. He met two women for lunch from 2-4pm, but they claimed not to know his whereabouts after he left.

According to investigators, Cohen's mobile phone was switched off at the same location. Police have questioned over a dozen people, including his spouse and workers, but have yet to determine what happened to him.

His wife, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, was arrested after police interrogated her for the third time at their Lower Kabete home in Nairobi. She had told police that Cohen was flying to Thailand for a medical check-up, but police confirmed he did not leave Nairobi.

Wairimu's lawyer, Philip Murgor, claims his client is innocent and does not understand why she is being detained. However, police say preliminary investigations suggest some witnesses were coached to give false testimony on Cohen's movements.

Police are analysing Wairimu and Cohen's calls, text messages, and financial transactions to establish if Cohen's credit cards have been used since he went missing.
