Fast forward to the Christie Sevens, the penultimate round of the six-legged National Sevens Circuit, where KCB closed in on a third title following their Main Cup victory on August 31st, 2019.
The 12-7 win against Nakuru RFC in a pulsating final at the RFUEA ground saw the bankers maintain top spot with 94 points, securing the overall title as second-placed Mwamba, who are currently on 84 points, cannot surpass that tally even if they are victorious at the season-ending Driftwood Sevens.
In their Main Cup triumph, KCB got onto the scoresheet through two tries and one conversion, while Nakuru managed one try and a conversion.
The game's decisive try was delivered by KCB's Elphas Adunga, restoring the lead for the bankers after the sides went to the break tied 7-7.
On their way to the final, KCB had to toil, coming from behind to eliminate Mwamba with a 17-12 victory while Nakuru also claimed a come-from-behind 19-14 win over Impala Saracens.
