On September 1, 2019, police in Siaya County launched an investigation into the brutal murder of a 60-year-old woman and her 13-year-old nephew at Umala village in Alego/Usonga sub-county.
The victims, Pamela Adhiambo Ogola and her nephew, were found in a pool of blood at the woman's home after they were hacked to death by unknown people at around 8 p.m.
According to East Alego location Chief Jared Makana, the woman's neighbors heard her screaming and rushed to her compound, only to find that she and her nephew had already been killed.
Chief Makana stated that police were called and took the bodies to Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for postmortem as investigations began.
The administrator also revealed that the murders come a few years after an incident where a house belonging to the 60-year-old woman was mysteriously burnt down by unknown people, forcing her to move to a new home where she was murdered.
