On Sunday, a tragic road accident shook the Nyakairu-Knungi stretch along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway, resulting in the loss of 6 lives and leaving 10 others with serious injuries.
A 14-seater Matatu and a canter collided head-on after the matatu driver attempted to overtake, claiming the lives of both drivers.
According to eyewitness Mr. Peter Kariuki, who was at the scene, the victims were trapped inside the vehicle and despite efforts to save them, all was in vain.
Mr. Kariuki expressed concern over the increasing number of accidents in the area, describing it as a 'black spot' due to the high number of fatalities.
Local leaders are now calling on the relevant authorities to deploy traffic police officers in different spots to control road users and prevent such tragedies from occurring.
