Published on September 1, 2019, barely a week before the September 7th ODM nomination in Kibra, there are reports indicating that supporters of ANC candidate Eliud Owalo are plotting to vote for a weaker candidate in the upcoming ODM nominations; in order to increase chances of their candidate.
According to sources privy to ANC strategy for Kibra byelections, the Eliud Owalo campaign is scared to face Benson Musungu, should he win ODM nomination. ANC supporters and others who hold ODM membership will be encouraged to vote for an ODM candidate with a lesser appeal among Kibra residents.
ODM has 11 contestants fighting for nomination. While Musungu's appeal cuts across the socio-political divide, it is believed that ANC and Jubilee are keenly waiting and watching the ODM nomination results, in order to know which strategy to implement in the post-nomination stage.
It is believed that both ANC and Jubilee are scared to face Benson Musungu in the by-election because of his wide appeal across parties and people of all walks of life. He is the closest person in the entire list of contestants who embodies the character of Ken Okoth and who genuinely cares about the issues affecting Kibra residents.
