On September 1, 2019, a devastating road accident occurred at Nyakairu center, 15 kilometers from Naivasha town, resulting in the loss of five lives.
A 14-seater matatu, belonging to 2NK Sacco, was heading to Nairobi when it was involved in a head-on collision with a truck that was heading to Naivasha.
According to James Kabono, chairman of the Naivasha Road Safety Association, the lorry driver was entirely to blame for the accident.
"Five people have died on the spot and scores of others have been injured and rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital," Kabono stated.
The driver of the lorry also lost his life in the accident.
