The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has initiated a program to provide technical and vocational education and training (TVET) opportunities for students who sat the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) between 2000 and 2021.

On February 10, KUCCPS announced the initiative targeting KCSE candidates who were not selected for higher education placements. Eligible applicants can now apply for diplomas, certificates, and artisan courses through the KUCCPS portal.

"Did you sit the KCSE exam between 2000 and 2021 and haven’t been placed by KUCCPS to undertake a TVET course? Our portal is now open for applications. Apply for a chance to pursue your career of choice under government sponsorship," the service stated.

Applicants must meet specific grade requirements: a minimum KCSE Grade of E for artisan certificates, a mean grade of D (plain) or higher for craft certificates, and a mean grade of C- or above for diplomas. The application process involves logging into the KUCCPS portal using KCSE index numbers and passwords, then selecting four preferred courses in priority order.

The program aims to provide government-sponsored technical training to candidates who were previously unplaced by KUCCPS, including those from the 2020 KCSE cohort.
