Manchester United's match against Southampton in Matchweek four of the Premier League ended in a 1-1 draw on Saturday, August 31, 2019, at St Mary's Stadium.
Manchester United took the lead in the 10th minute when Daniel James scored the opening goal.
However, Southampton equalized in the match when Jannik Vestergaard scored with a powerful header after a punch from De Gea.
Southampton's manager, Ralph Hasenhüttl, would be pleased with the way his team contained Manchester United following the first goal, dominating the match and taking the fight back to Manchester United.
As the second half trickled on, both Saints manager and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer went into the reserves to try and find the extra addition to edge out their opponent.
Kevin Danso then got his second card and was sent off 15 minutes to final time, reducing the hosts to ten men and allowing Manchester United a real chance at taking all three points.
However, Manchester United was unable to capitalize on the numerical advantage, with Mason Greenwood coming in for Scott Mctominay in one last final attempt for Ole to squeeze something out of the one-man advantage.
United continued to storm the Saints' final third, but it was Southampton who would have the victory of sharing points after Angus Gunn was at his best to thwart all of Manchester United's attempts.
Greenwood had one final decent attempt at Gunn, but it was parried away from goal to end the tie at 1-1.
