On a fateful Friday night, a 32-year-old man in Mwisho wa Reli village, Nyandarua county, committed a heinous crime that has left the community in shock. The man, who has not been named, stabbed his two sons aged eight and six to death before hanging himself inside the house.
According to neighbours, the family had been experiencing domestic rows, which they suspect may have led to the tragic incident. The neighbours reported hearing a commotion at around 3am, only to wake up to the devastating news.
"We heard a commotion at that time only to wake up to the sad news. The family has been having domestic rows and that is what we suspect could have caused the problem," said Michael Njenga, a neighbour.
Despite the neighbours' efforts to locate the mother of the two children, her whereabouts remain unknown. The police have since been informed, and Nyandarua county police boss Gedion Ngumi has confirmed the incident.
"We are on our way to collect the bodies as well as establishing the cause of the deaths. We have since deployed our officers on the ground," said Ngumi. The bodies are set to be taken to JM Memorial hospital in Ol Kalou for post-mortem examination.
