Kenya's Tong-IL Moo-Do team, popularly known as Jasiri, completed the World Martial Arts Mastership Championship in second position with a total of nine medals.

Although they failed to secure any gold medals on the final day, the Kenyan team managed to bag two silver and two bronze medals, improving their performance from the 2016 championship where they finished third with eight medals.

Kenya's Rose Wacheke Muthui won the silver medal in the women's Sparring +65kg event, losing to Thailand's Kachana Dawan in the final clash. Muthui, who beat Ailin Micaela of Paraguay in the semi-final, attributed her loss to a tough competition and a short rest period between her two fights.

"I lost to a better competitor but I'll start training when I get back home and I'm going to punish all competitors I'm going to face in the forthcoming championship," she said.

The Kenyan team's performance was led by Gordon Ochieng and Lona Abiero, who won gold medals, while Rose Wacheke and Form Team secured silver medals. Elvis Malipe, Evans Oduor, Patricia Lucky, James Njuguna, and Salma Ali won bronze medals.
