SDA Church members in Imara Daima faced exclusion from the church compound on December 25, prompting an outdoor service as they denounced leadership over alleged financial misconduct. The group claimed the pastor had diverted funds from church accounts and delayed construction projects despite weekly contributions.
"The church building is substandard, but this isn't due to lack of congregants," one member said. "We contribute every weekend, yet when renovations are needed, we're told funds are unavailable." The congregants highlighted unspent allocations for construction materials, citing discrepancies in financial records.
Concerns also extended to the church-run school, established in 2004 to assist slum residents, which members now describe as unaffordable. "Fees have risen to a point where we cannot access it," another congregant stated. Some called for the school's closure, alleging that revenue was not reinvested into the church but instead diverted to personal accounts.
