Former Spain and Barcelona coach Luis Enrique's nine-year-old daughter Xana has died of bone cancer, five months after being diagnosed.
On Thursday, Luis Enrique announced the tragic news on Twitter, saying: "Our daughter Xana passed away this afternoon at nine years old, after fighting for five intense months against osteosarcoma."
He added: "We will miss you enormously but we will remember you every day of our lives."
Luis Enrique had resigned as national coach in June, citing personal reasons that had prevented him from fulfilling his duties since March.
Assistant Robert Moreno has taken over as coach and will lead Spain through Euro 2020 qualifying and the final tournament.
Football figures, including former Spain captain Sergio Ramos and La Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid, have sent their condolences to Luis Enrique and his family.
Other sports personalities, such as tennis player Rafael Nadal, have also expressed their sympathy.
