On a day meant for celebration, Anerlisa Muigai and her fiancé Ben Pol decided to surprise her mother, Tabitha Karanja, on her birthday. The gesture was all the more special given the challenging circumstances her mother had faced in the recent past.
Tabitha Karanja, the CEO of Keroche Industries, had been arrested and spent a night locked up in her office in Naivasha alongside her husband Joseph Karanja. The couple had been accused of Ksh14 billion tax evasion, a charge they vehemently denied.
Speaking to Citizen, Tabitha Karanja expressed her feelings about the ordeal, saying, 'I FEEL I AM BEING UNFAIRLY TARGETED. I HAVE DONE MY JOB FOR 22 YEARS, PAYING TAXES AND CREATING JOBS.'
Undeterred by the challenges her mother had faced, Anerlisa and Ben Pol decided to surprise her with a cake, card, and flowers. In a heartwarming Instagram post, Anerlisa wrote, 'In the mix of everything, I remembered today is my mother’s birthday and Ben and I decided to surprise and cheer her up before she went to work this morning… Happy Birthday, Mum, We love you and may God bless you always??????. #PositiveVibes.'
