On August 29, 2019, Homabay County Governor Cyprian Awiti returned to work after a two-month absence due to illness, and he was not pleased with what he found.

Awiti, who had been away since June 27, 2019, was back in the office and breathing fire at his County Executive Committee members, warning them against laziness.

During a swearing-in ceremony for seven members of the newly-created Homa Bay County Municipality Board, Awiti fired a warning at county ministers who he accused of sleeping on the job.

"I have no room for lazy CEC members! You have to change your methods of service delivery from office to fieldwork so that your impact can be felt on the ground," he said.

The Board will play a major role in implementing the spatial plan that will ensure the infrastructural growth of the town.

The newly-appointed Board Members include Peter Osoo Ongore, William Oracha Abuka, Dorcas Akoth Matunga, Eveline Lucy Ochelle, Maurice Okoma Odhoch, Peter Odhiambo Otieno, and Caren Otieno Odiyo.

Deputy Governor Hamilton Orata, County Secretary Isaiah Ogwe, CEC Members, and Members of the County Assembly were among the officials in attendance during the event.
