On August 30, 2019, Ebru TV Management issued a statement addressing the controversy surrounding Chipukeezy and Kartelo's exit from the station.

According to Ebru TV, Kartelo was not an employee of the station, but rather a permanent feature on 'The Chipukeezy Show' due to an honorary agreement made with Chipukeezy.

The TV station pointed out that Kartelo had been commissioned to shoot and promote a number of campaign videos for the ongoing census exercise on his personal social media platforms at a fee, but failed to honor the agreement.

Ebru TV stated that they did not part ways with Kartelo due to what Chipukeezy termed as 'lots of ghetto-ness' on the show, but rather due to Kartelo's failure to deliver on the task given to him.

"We need to clarify that Kartelo was not an employee of Ebru Television and he was not in the payroll either," the statement read.

"The only official agreement that the station had with Kartelo is on a census campaign," the statement continued.

It added: "Please note that as of August 23, 2019, we did not have any issues with The Chipukeezy Show and was to go on as normal. Ebru did not terminate Kartelo for what Chipukeezy claims as 'ghetto-ness' but we no longer wanted to work with him which is our right as the management of Ebru."
