On August 30, 2019, Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Haji clarified his stance on the potential re-arrest of Keroche Breweries Limited owners Tabitha Karanja and her husband Joseph Karanja.
According to reports, the DPP stated that since the couple had already been charged with Sh14 billion tax fraud, there was no new evidence to warrant their fear of re-arrest.
High Court judge James Wakiaga had previously marked as settled an application by Tabitha and Karanja seeking to stop the DPP from further arrest and prosecution.
The entrepreneurs had filed the application for anticipatory bail through their lawyer Irungu Kang'ata.
