On August 29, 2019, Kobo360, a digital technology platform, launched its operations in Nairobi, Kenya, marking a significant step in its mission to disrupt African third-party logistics.
The company, which has secured $30 million in funding from Goldman Sachs, has been in beta operation in Kenya for five months, providing access to over 3,000 trucks and truck owners.
Speaking at the launch event, Kobo360 CEO for the African region, Kagure Wamunyu, emphasized the company's commitment to fostering seamless intra-African trade by connecting and supporting cargo owners, truck owners and drivers, and cargo recipients.
Kenya's Port of Mombasa, the largest and busiest port in East Africa, serves as a gateway to other East African countries, including Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, DRC, and Southern Sudan. Kobo360 aims to leverage this strategic location to fuel logistics in East Africa and beyond.
