On August 29, 2019, English media outlets reported that Tottenham Hotspur and Belgian giants Club Brugge had agreed on a fee of around Sh1.2 billion for Harambee Stars skipper Victor Wanyama.

Wanyama, who joined Spurs from Southampton in 2016, has struggled with consistent niggling injuries and fitness concerns, missing about half of the club's competitive matches in the past two seasons.

His absence has led to him being replaced by Tanguy Ndombele, who was signed by Tottenham in July for a reported Sh10 billion.

Despite interest from several clubs, including West Ham, Wolves, Fenerbahce, and Galatasaray, it appears that Club Brugge are in the driving seat for Wanyama's signature.

Wanyama's return to Brugge will represent a comeback of sorts, as he received his football education at the defunct Germinal Beerschot between 2008 and 2011.
