Published on August 29, 2019, a day when Nairobi's vibrant streets were filled with life, but also with people who made it difficult for others to enjoy the city.

As we navigate the city's busy streets, we often come across individuals who seem to take pleasure in making our lives more challenging. From hawkers who turn public service vehicles into makeshift markets to landlords who lock out tenants without a second thought, Nairobi has its share of annoying people.

1. Hawkers

Hawkers have become a common sight in Nairobi, with some even turning public service vehicles into hawking grounds. They will sell anything from foodstuffs to underwears, often forcing passengers to buy their products and insulting them if they refuse.

As one resident noted, 'Kwani Muthurwa, Ngara and other open-air markets zilifungwa? Kidero stop sleeping on your job and tell the men in yellow to do their job!' It's time for hawkers to remember that public service vehicles are for transporting passengers, not a marketplace.

2. Landlords and Caretakers

Landlords are often the most annoying creatures in Nairobi. They will laugh with you one day, but when rent is late, they will lock you out without a second thought. Caretakers are no better, pressuring tenants to pay rent as if they own the houses.

As one tenant shared, 'Otieno unapesa ya kununua fobe lakini huwezi lipa rent. Leo haulali hapa. Naenda kuweka padlock kwa murago.' It's time for landlords and caretakers to change their ways.

3. People Who Carry Guitars Everywhere

Wannabe artists who carry guitars everywhere they go can be quite annoying. They often dress up and pretend to be serious, only to be seen later chilling on city council benches.

As one resident quipped, 'Wacheni kutubeba ufala!' It's time for these wannabe artists to find a more productive way to spend their time.

4. Secretaries/Receptionists

Secretaries and receptionists often have an attitude that can be quite intimidating. They dress in mini skirts and high heels, and often have funny-looking eyebrows that seem to be drawn on with crayons.

As one resident noted, 'Be courteous, please!' It's time for secretaries and receptionists to treat others with respect.

5. Club Bouncers

Club bouncers are often the most annoying people in Nairobi's nightlife scene. They harass revellers and are often brutal and reckless.

As one resident quipped, 'Mnakuwanga na Ujinga sana!' It's time for club bouncers to find a more productive way to spend their time.
