Regional CEO Wilf Blackburn emphasized the company’s commitment to Africa, stating, "Our purpose is to help people get the most out of life. We want to make healthcare and financial security more accessible and affordable." The insurer serves over 1.7 million customers through 13,000 agents and 600 bank branches across eight African markets.
Blackburn highlighted the potential for growth, noting Africa’s insurance penetration rate of 2.7% and rising demand driven by a projected population increase to 2 billion by 2050. The company is investing in technology like its AI-powered Pulse app, which offers health and wealth management solutions to digitally savvy consumers.
Focus on African Talent and Market Reach ¶
Prudential has prioritized local leadership, with all eight country CEOs based in Africa. The insurer, which began operations in Ghana in 2013, now operates in Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Nigeria.
The company’s expansion aligns with Kenya’s growing financial sector, supported by partnerships with local institutions like the Nairobi International Financial Centre.
