Prudential plc has relocated its Africa Regional Headquarters from London to Nairobi, aiming to enhance support for its operations across the continent. The move, announced on 28 October 2021, reflects the company’s growing focus on Africa, where it serves over 1.7 million customers through a network of 13,000 agents and 600 bank branches.
Regional CEO Wilf Blackburn emphasized the strategic shift, stating the company’s commitment to improving access to healthcare and financial security. "Our mission is to help individuals maximize their quality of life," he said during the Nairobi office launch. "Africa’s vast protection gaps present significant opportunities to expand our impact."
Since entering the market in Ghana in 2013, Prudential operates in eight African nations: Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Togo, Uganda, Zambia, and Nigeria. The Nairobi hub will centralize regional operations, with attendees at the launch including British High Commissioner Jane Marriot and Nairobi International Financial Centre CEO Oscar Njuguna.
