Published on August 29, 2019, a shocking discovery was made in Embu town where a 57-year-old man from Kakamega was found living in a lorry.
Enumerators were counting residents in the area when they stumbled upon Mohamed Muhati, who had been living in the grounded lorry at a garage in Majengo estate.
According to reports, Muhati had been given permission by the garage owner, James Odhiambo, to live in the lorry after he was kicked out of a rented house in Dallas estate within Embu town due to financial problems.
Muhati, who fell ill and plunged into financial difficulties, claimed that his landlord rejected all appeals to give him time to pay the rent and kicked him out.
He further stated that his family is in Kakamega but he could not go back home owing to financial constraints.
‘I only have a mattress, some bedding and a few clothes. I buy food from the kiosks around this place to survive,’ Muhati said.
Well-wishers have been called upon to come to his aid and ensure he gets a decent house to live in.
