Chairman of Athletics Kenya's Nairobi branch, Barnaba Korir, has praised the country's performance at the African Games in Rabat, Morocco, where athletes have won several gold medals.

On the opening day, Kenya won two gold medals, and on Wednesday, two more gold medals were added to the tally, bringing the total to four.

Among the winners were Lilian Kasait, who won the 5,000m gold medal, and Benjamin Kigen, who won the 3,000m steeplechase gold medal.

However, Korir has also expressed concern over the high number of injuries suffered by athletes during the competition.

He noted that despite the country's good performance, the number of injuries is worrying and needs to be addressed.

According to Korir, the injuries are a major concern as the country heads to the World Championships in Doha next month.

He emphasized the need for Athletics Kenya to review its training and competition strategies to reduce the number of injuries.

On a positive note, Korir praised the competitiveness of the African Games, saying that it is a major opportunity for athletes to qualify for the World Championships.

He also noted that the games provide a platform for athletes to chase qualifying marks ahead of the World Championships.

As the country continues to perform well at the African Games, Korir has urged athletes to take the competition seriously and make it count towards their qualification for the World Championships.
