On August 27th, 2019, Kisumu Arch Bishop Philip Anyolo (center) joined Kisumu governor Anyang Nyongo at the Pontifical Missionary Childhood (PMC) inauguration of the installation of St. Alloys Ojolla Deanery in Kisumu.

During the inauguration, retired Kisumu Catholic Archbishop Linus Akok expressed his concerns about the decline in moral standards among children, attributing it to laws that overprotect them. He argued that such laws are misleading and allow children to sue parents or elders over disciplinary action.

Archbishop Akok emphasized the importance of discipline in shaping good leaders, citing examples of great leaders who were highly disciplined by their parents or guardians. He called for the condemnation of such laws, allowing children to be disciplined without fear of victimization.

Archbishop Philip Anyolo, on the other hand, highlighted the cornerstone of evangelism as education and instilling values in children in school and at home.

St. Aloys-Ojolla Deanery, a sub-division of the diocese, consists of eight parishes in Kisumu West and Seme sub-counties, with a dean appointed by a bishop to preside over the parishes.
