On August 26, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Kilifi when comedian Davis Mwabili, alias Inspekta Mwala, was involved in a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a pedestrian.

According to the police, Mwabili was driving under the influence of alcohol when he hit and killed 35-year-old Samwel Mwaki at around 11:00 pm. The incident occurred while Mwabili was driving from Mazeras to Kaloleni.

Police Chief David Maina confirmed Mwabili's arrest and stated that the comedian was taken into custody after being rescued from a rowdy crowd. Maina emphasized that Mwabili must appear in court on the following Friday to answer the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

As reported by The Standard, the police claim that Mwabili was drunk during the accident and was unable to reach for the brakes. The vehicle allegedly dragged the pedestrian for about 100 meters before coming to a halt, resulting in fatal injuries.

The body of the deceased was moved to Coast General mortuary, while the damaged vehicle was towed to Rabai Police station for further investigation.
