The Employment and Labour Relations Court has issued a ruling that has put the recruitment of a new Director General at the Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) on hold.
According to Board Chairman Ngene Gituku, the court specifically pronounced itself on the status quo, which relates to the recruitment of the Director General and not the extension of the term of office of the former Director General, Francis Wangusi.
Gituku clarified that the court ruling does not favour the stay of Wangusi in office, as some media reports had insinuated.
Speaking during the 58th Meeting of the African Advanced Level Training Institute Governing Council in Mombasa, Gituku emphasized that the recruitment process will remain on hold as directed by the court.
He also noted the need for African governments to invest in improving engineering skills to drive growth.
