Chinese Director of X-Tigi Technology Charged with KES. 194 Million Tax Evasion

On August 28, 2019, a Kenyan court charged Gao Fei, the director of New X-Tigi Technology Limited, with tax evasion amounting to KES. 194 million.

According to the charges, Gao Fei failed to pay Value Added Tax (VAT) amounting to KES. 194,357,743 for the period of July 2015 to July 2016.

X-Tigi Technology Limited is a Chinese company that sells phones in Kenya, known for their large battery feature and smartphones.

The company has a presence in several African countries, including Nigeria, Rwanda, and Ghana.

Gao Fei denied the accusations and was released on bail of KES. 150,000 with a bond of KES. 1 million, and was ordered to surrender his passport.

The case will be heard on September 26th.
